China (Hainan) Pilot-Free Trade Zone Forum

Our Consultant, Mr. Wilfred Tsui, together with other representatives of the Law Society of Hong Kong, were invited by the Hainan Department of Justice to attend the China (Hainan) Pilot-Free Trade Zone Forum. Mr. Tsui gave a presentation on “How to Reference Hong Kong Experience in developing the Hainan Free-Trade Zone and Free Port” and exchanged views with around 200 attending lawyers and notaries. Our intern, Mr. Benjamin Sung, accompanied Mr. Tsui in attending this function.

Approved by the State Council in a circular released on October 16, 2018, the “Overall Plan for China (Hainan) Pilot-Free Trade Zone” will turn this country-size island, with an area of almost 35000 square kilometers, into an international measure hub and gateway to the Pacific and Indian Ocean. The plan illustrates a commitment for reforms in internationally openness, facilitating trade and investment, normalizing judicial system, comprehending financial services, regulatory and security efficiency, and preserving first-class ecosystems. All of which signifies a high potential business opportunity for all trades in Hong Kong.
